For today...

In the world today and the coming days, I have a feeling that we are going to have opportunities to exercise this.  It's something that each of us struggle with, but it's also something that is demanded of us as Christians.  God always seems to "drop" things on me, just when I need it.  I wanted to save this and yet share it at the same time.  Maybe someone els can use the encouragement as well!

God freely forgives us.  Ephesians 4:32 says, "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."  God forgave us because of the sacrifice Jesus made for us-and based on His forgiveness He expects us to extend forgiveness to others.  We do not forgive others because they deserve it.  Instead, we forgive them because it is right.  If you are holding tightly to wrong done to you in the past, you will never experience the freedom and joy that comes with letting go.  Each time you are reminded of what happened, remind yourself that you have already forgiven that and let it go.
(A friend of mine posted this on Facebook a couple days ago on her status.  She said it was from a devotional by Paul Chappell.)

One more encouragement....
Yesterday on our church's website this verse was posted...
"Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16

Apparently a lesson God is trying to teach me since I keep getting this from every angle!  I know that being different makes me stick out like a sore thumb and "asks" for confrontations, but as Christians, we are called to stand out, be different, shine for him!  I love when God sends encouragement our way.  He always has the best timing and the best way for me to understand what He is trying to get across! :)
Our Preacher always says God is Never Late, Rarely Early, and ALWAYS ON TIME!
How comforting!
