Busy Day

Today is full...
Homeschooling, babysitting, sewing (if I have time), laundry, cleaning...
Tomorrow is a big day for us.  (More on that later)
We went to the library for the1st time with the girls yesterday... I know, I know....that makes me a bad mom!  They got done with their schoolwork quick today so they could get back to reading.  Madalyn ended up kind of bummed because she don't think she should finish her book.  Apparently the main character is really disrespectful and keeps saying shut up to people.  So she has traded her library book for the books she got for Christmas.  I'm proud of her for recognizing the wrong and staying away from it.
On another note, the girls have gotten so big...although they might not see it.  They were watching "Super Why" today after school.  They are convinced that they have ruined the show by changing it a ton since they saw it last a couple years ago.  ;)  I'm pretty sure they have just gotten bigger and notice all the silly little things now!  LOL
Well I'm off to get my list done!

Beautiful Day

Today has been a really weird day.  I woke up this morning all ready to snow blow since we were supposed to get lack effect snow.  We got absolutely nothing.  When my 1st extra kiddo got here, her mom said it was awful in Watson and Lowville was on a 2 hour delay.  After my 2nd kiddo's mom got to work in Lowville, she said it was bad there as well.  Within 10 minutes it hit here and I couldn't see my neighbors' house!  It stayed like that for about an hour and then it stopped just as suddenly as it started.  The sun has been shining since!
The girls finished their 7th PACE today!  This year is flying by!  They are both doing well and excelling.  Marissa is a lot like me when it comes to school, so I'm always so amazed at how well she does in Science.  Both the girls do really well in school and I'm so proud of them!  With our winter being so mild, the girls are aching to be done and camping season to get here.  I can't say that I blame them any...5 month till our first planned trip!
I hope you all have a great day!

Field trip pictures finally!

First off, I want to apologize to anyone that got messed up this morning with the change in my blog.  If you are reading this, you must have figured it out :)  It's always bugged me that my URL and blog name didn't match.  The fix wasn't as easy as I thought and I'm kind of wishing I hadn't messed with it.  It's done now though!  Hopefully everyone was able to right it around ok.

We had a great time at the field trip to the Turin Fire Hall.  Doug always does such a great job with the kids.  This year he got David to help him.  He has only been with the fire department about 3 months.  He was phenomenal as well!  The kids seemed to have a blast and I've heard from quite a few moms that their kids were play acting what they had learned over the next couple days.

The kids did a relay race and David and Doug showed them how to do it...

The kids needed help getting dressed as well as walking ;)

Then we set them loose to climb in and on the trucks.

Thanks to everyone that showed up, David and Doug for giving up a day of work to do this for us, and Hillary for making REALLY yummy cookies!  Can't wait till next year!

My baby is back!

I got a phone call around 3:30 yesterday from Unlimited Collision in Lyons Falls telling me that my car was currently being washed and waxed.  :)  As soon as it was done it was ready for pickup!  I ran down the first chance I got to go.

(The garage lighting and such doesn't do the car any justice!)

They did such a great job!  You would never know anything happened to it.  They even fixed a scratch on the driver's side from a cart (we think) that showed up last summer and didn't charge us!  They worked around our deductible and we owed half what I was planning on.  AND I got a wash and wax out of it!  LOL  I'm so impressed with the work they did.
I'm beyond happy to have my vehicle back and I'm so thankful for how God is constantly encouraging us.
Stay tuned for picture from our field trip on Monday!

Field Trip!!!

We have a field trip today to the Turin Fire Hall.  I think I love field trips as much as the kids do!  I can't wait.  I'll have pictures tomorrow!
Because Doug runs this field trip, he is home which makes today super exciting!  So needless to say, I'm not going to stay on her and blog about it ;)
I'll have lots to talk about tomorrow!
I hope you all have a great day!

Ways to start your morning...

I haven't been sleeping well this week.  I go to bed at a good time...usually between 9:30 and 10, but I can not fall asleep.  Last night I tried watching a movie in bed, which is always a guarantee to put me to sleep.  Of course not last night...I stayed awake for the whole thing!  At least I wasn't just staring at the wall until midnight....you have to look at the positive ;)
Getting up has been even more fun.  By the time my alarm goes off at 5:45, I'm hitting snooze and struggling to get out of bed.  This morning I hit snooze and then woke up to the girls giggling in their room.  Let me just say, that is so much nicer than an alarm!  Before too long, they came rushing in so excited and talking both at the same time!  Apparently Peterette has learned to jump between their two beds and they were VERY impressed!  LOL
I love my kids!  Thanks to them, I started my morning great!
Doug comes home tonight so I'll be able to sleep too! :)  It's going to be a great day!  I hope you have an awesome day as well!

Sledding!

(Somehow this blog got deleted so I had to start over...grrrrr)
It's crazy that it is the middle of January and it's our first time out sledding!  Don't get me wrong, it's not for a lack of trying...but lack of SNOW!  We finally have a good amount and friend asked us if we wanted to go sledding after church, so we jumped on it.  We got to test out a new hill that kind of reminded me of our favorite sledding hill growing up!  It was really long and you really got going.  The only thing we were missing is the giant tractor tire tube that we used to use on the hill growing up!  The climb back up the hill was definitely a rough one and usually resulted in a rest before going back down again...

Beth was so smart and brought camping chairs for us to sit in!  I'm so thankful for good friends!

The girls are too :)

I LOVE this picture!

Can't wait to take Doug!  I need to go invest in some more sleds and tubes before we do.  We are down to one good tube and even that has a slow leak in it.  :(

My baby

New Years Eve, we spent with some friends.  We stayed for the ball drop and played another game before heading home.  The girls asked if their one friend could spend the night...we all piled in and followed Doug home.  (He drove separately since he was later getting home from work.)  It had rained earlier and then froze, so I'm not sure if I hit black ice or what the deal was.  I was going about 40, and about 3 houses from ours, I took my foot off the gas.  Immediately the back end started coming around on me.  I can't remember what I did as far as my reaction was.... I'm pretty sure I didn't add some gas, which in hind site is probably what I should have done.  I did manage to avoid two telephone poles and a tree before snapping the neighbor's mail box post in two.  Someone I managed to keep the mailbox in one piece.  With the way my car looks I'm still not sure how that happened!  God was gracious to us!

So I dropped my baby off at unlimited collision for the repair work to be done.  She needs two new doors along with a new mirror and some paint work done.  I know they will do a great job, but 5 days feels like a long time!  Can't wait to see it finished!

Wife carrying...

New Years day, we were hanging out with some friends and they told us about this event that they thought looked like fun.  I can't stop thinking about it since.  It looks like it would be challenging, hysterical, and overall just a really great time.  The prize consists of both money and beer, which I can do without.  I really just want to do it for the experience, although the cash would be nice!  Maybe we should hold an event here...what do you think?  Doug and I tested it out in the house....he carried me over the beds as obstacles.  I couldn't stop laughing!  Try it...its harder than it looks for sure!

Getting itchy...

...for a good sewing project!
I've had my eye on a project for a while and yesterday I finally picked out fabric.  I love sewing, but I'm horrible at decision making!  The process took way longer than it should have, in fact it was kind of ridiculous.  I went to bed with a headache last night from sitting in front of the computer too long.  It's ordered though and I can't wait to get started.  A good friend of mine showed me directions for a rag quilt that she planned on making and I fell in love.  I've never seen anything like it before, but I needed to make one!
Isn't it beautiful???

Of course pink isn't my thing, so this is what I came up with for mine...

Then I designed it on my computer...I still may change somethings around, but I needed to have an idea so I could figure out how much fabric to buy.
I can't wait for it to come and start on it!
If anyone else is interested in making one, you can find the instructions here.
Of course if you are going to make one as well, let me know...I want to see pictures of yours as well.  I'll keep you posted with pictures as it comes along!

No pictures but...

...We had an amazing weekend.
My parents don't live hours and hours and hours away from us, but with both of our schedules, we really don't see each other that often.  When we do see each other, a lot of times, something is going on and everyone is up for it.  Mom mentioned that she wanted to make a trip down to us to spend some time with just us.  I've been super excited about it.
We had such a great time of fun, fellowship, cuddles, games, laughs...too much!
It's been a long time since I have had a lump when saying goodbye...  Hopefully it won't be too long and we will see them again.
On the down side, we had so much fun I never picked up my camera once!
Oh well...
I hope you guys all have a great week.  Enjoy the snow!

Happy Anniversary!!!

It's been 11 years!  Time really does fly.
I'm always reminded of how blessed I am, but especially come our anniversary.  When you watch marriages around you crumble, I'm forever grateful for the blessing of a great marriage.

Doug,
Thank you for being an amazing husband, father, and provider.  I know you sacrifice a lot for us and I'm very thankful.  You have given me the greatest gift...the ability to stay home with our kids and homeschool them.  Thank you for being patient with me, listening to my rambles, and holding me on the tough days.  I know you don't see it, but you are an amazing man and I'm blessed to call you MINE!  I'm excited to see what this year holds for us!  I still can't believe it's been 11 years!  Thanks for putting up with me...I love you!

Benedict Christmas

Mom and Dad came down and we did gifts with them mid morning...

Marissa was very confused by the glass dish box.

They are sooo cute!

Probably one of my favorite pictures of the day!

When Doug's mom decided to get these, she asked me what colors and I said I didn't think it mattered.  So she ordered two and that was that.  A couple days after Madalyn had told her she wanted the monster she told Grandma that she changed her mind and she wanted the monkey instead.  I told mom not to worry about it.  I knew she would be happy in the end.  We headed home and the next morning she woke up and said that she thinks she does want the monster but only if it's the orange one.  I had no idea what colors Doug's mom had ordered so I quick called her.  She did good!
The girls absolutely love them and have been practicing hard with them.

That's the end of Christmas posts.  Once the morning was through, I tucked the camera away and enjoyed the rest of the day.  I hope you all had a great Christmas as well!
