The girls got a new "pet"

I'll preface this story by saying that Marissa and Madalyn colored pictures for Kinney Drugs' coloring contest.  They were each in two different sections and Madalyn actually ended up winning!  They gave her a $5 gift card for Kinney Drugs and she picked out a bug catching kit.
So naturally, they went right to town trying to catch bugs!  The first nice day we had they were out scouring the sides of the house and the entire lawn looking for anything that moved!  LOL  Granted we still had a foot of snow in sections of our yard.  Try as I may to convince them that bugs were still sleeping, they continued to look.  The second day they were out, they found two flies.
Marissa said that the first fly they found they used the magnifying glass and discovered he only had 3 legs.  They pegged him as faulty and let him go. He then proceeded to dive bomb to the ground.  I'm not sure if they ever said whether he lived through his ordeal or not ;)
The second fly, they kept and affectionately named "Croly" (Crawly)

They were hysterical with this thing!  Madalyn said he liked to play hide and seek and was a very smart fly.  He knew better than to fly out when they opened the door and just came over and said hello and then crawled back in.  LOL

Sadly "Croly" played hide and seek for a bit to long after being hid for 3 days, the girls gave up on him and have decided he must have escaped to go find his injured friend.
They now have a spotted beetle held captive.  He has made it almost a day so far.  His name is Spottie!

How cool! I love how kids manage to find an answer or explanation for everything!! I have a Butterfly house project I can send you the instructions to if you think it might be something they might be interested in for later in the summer.

Sounds good Tasia...although I'm not as crafty as you! You might have to come do it with them if its to complicated ;)
