Saratoga Springs

We have been really fortunate so far this summer to be able to do quite a bit of following Doug around.  A couple weeks ago, he was in Saratoga Springs for the week.  We stayed at a state park up there called Moreau State Park.  It was beautiful!  They had a ton of hiking trailed, an awesome beach, and a lot of shade.

One of the hiking trails we took, led us to this!

We walked down there everyday looking for a beaver...the girls were sure that we should at least see one once while we were there.

Beaver Dam #2

Beaver Dam #3

They also had 3 playground all right together, so a lot for the kids to do!

While we were at the park, the girls found this neat bug.  They loves his orange antennas!

Next trip is to Moravia to Fillmore Glen State Park :)

A visit with MY Grandparents :)

I'm ashamed to say that it's been a year and a half since I have made it out Grandma and Grandpa's place :(  I really wish we lived closer and I could bring the girls over more often.  They love when we get to go and really enjoy spending time with them.  The park is kind of a tradition there!

Marissa stayed back at the house this time when we went and drew.  She really wanted to make a special picture for the two of them.

Take a look at what she drew!  So beautiful!!!

We got to just hang out and visit...

...and you are never to old to climb on Grandpa's lap!

Madalyn loved the swing

Grandpa got out his photo album of all his pictures from his past.  He was such a cute little boy!!!
I REALLY enjoyed sitting down with him and watching him reminisce.  He had one picture of his great-great-grandparents.  Do you know how cool it is to hold a picture of your history like that in your hands?  So neat!  Thanks for a great visit!  Hopefully we are able to do it again before the "s" word comes back :)

Family Vacation at Darien Lakes State Park

This year is the first year in 5 years that we were able to have a no obligations vacation.  Granted, we didn't mind the weddings and babies that we got to help celebrate over the past couple years, but it sure was nice to have a week with my husband and no where we HAD to be.
This is what Madalyn thought about it...

We made hobo dinners...

We even taught Mom and Dad Benedict how to make them :)

The girls got pretty creative.
This is Madalyn's...

Doug's...

Mine...

Marissa's...

We did a lot of relaxing :)

We also did a lot of biking, swimming, walking...and before you knew it, everyone was wore out.  I'm not sure where I'm going to fit!

We enjoyed our annual trip to the amusement park with my parents, and Doug's parents even got to come!  We had a blast as usual.  It's always so neat to watch how God coordinates the weather for the day we go.  It was BEAUTIFUL!  I definitely don't get as much out of that day as I used to when I was a kid, I absolutely love that we are able to take the girls and watch them enjoy themselves.  Memories in the making!

36th Anniversary for Calvary Bible Church

What an amazing blessing!  The Lord sure has been faithful to us.
Of course we started the day off with the official candy toss...30lbs worth!

The whole crew...or most of them anyhow

We got to break in the new wing!

Man I miss this kid!

Lily left us earlier than usual this year since her Mommy was having another baby!  A couple weeks ago, we got the pleasure of spending some time with Lily, the new baby (Olivia) and Megan.  It was so nice to have a few hours to sit, chat, and watch the kids play.  The girls painted and played chase, colored and read a book.  I really enjoyed our day and can't wait for the next one!

How is this even possible???

Seth Kyle is one...
I don't know if it's just because my nieces and nephews don't live near me, or what the deal is, but I really struggle when each of them hits one!  Who am I kidding, I struggle when they hit any age.  Casen turned 6 last week and I just can't get over that one either!
It seems like just yesterday we were there, holding him for the first time...

and the puppy addiction begins...

I CAN NOT WAIT to get my hands on him in another week!  I hope he likes kisses!!!

Back to the real world and some excitement...

Hey friends!!!  It's been too long :)
We jumped right from vacation to traveling with Doug.  We were home just long enough to unpack, wash everything, and repack the camper.  We spent the week in Saratoga Springs!  It sure was pretty.  I have a bunch of pictures that I need to put on the computer, edit and then upload.  It looks like I'll be home for the next two weeks so that should give me something to do.
Last night we were watching TV, when suddenly we heard a ton of hooves.  We thought the TV just had really good sound until we realized that it was coming from outside.  Around 30 cows got out from our old barn and were running for everything they had down the middle of the road.  Doug and I followed them until they turned off onto a neighbors yard and we could turn them around.  Before we were said and done there were quite a few volunteers out herding, hunting for strays, blocking traffic, and opening doors.  I love seeing a neighborhood come together to lend a helping hand.  I went out this morning to weed the garden and wondered if I would hear any stray cows hanging around, but it seems all quiet and peaceful!
I promise I'll get to those pictures and we'll be back to regular blogs for a while again :)
