Fillmore Glen

We got the pleasure of heading to Fillmore Glen with the camper.  I'm pretty sure this is the girls favorite place to camp.  It's right up there with Darien Lake State Park for me.  We love the site we get here, the only thing that would make it better would be electricity.  We manage though!  Here is our home sweet home!

More pictures of this place to follow!!!

Swim lessons

This summer I signed the girls up for swim lessons in Port Leyden.  Anytime we are home, we try to make it over there.  They started out in level 3, but quickly got moved to level 4.  They were unsure of that at first because they actually had to do things they didn't know how to do and needed to practice to get, but they have since decided its fun to learn.  Here are a few pictures of a couple of their lessons.

This was their hardest day of lessons.  They struggled getting the dive down.

They loved the knee dive though!

Lesson run until the middle of August, and the girls are looking forward to the other new things they will learn!

Well HELLO there!

I know, I know, It's been way too long!
We have been really blessed this summer to have been able to follow Doug around pretty steadily.  It's been amazing!  I think since June 19th we have only spent 2 nights apart, counting tonight.  He's been able to have home cooked meals, and have his family with him.  God definitely is good!
When I have been home, our internet has been awful!  As I'm typing this, I'm still unsure if this is even going to post.  We have had a bunch going on and I have a TON of pictures to share!  So I'm going to work on it today and get these up by tonight.
I miss you all!
So stay tuned...I promise it will be worth it...
more camping pictures, swim lessons, family time....it will be awesome! :)

Saratoga Springs

We have been really fortunate so far this summer to be able to do quite a bit of following Doug around.  A couple weeks ago, he was in Saratoga Springs for the week.  We stayed at a state park up there called Moreau State Park.  It was beautiful!  They had a ton of hiking trailed, an awesome beach, and a lot of shade.

One of the hiking trails we took, led us to this!

We walked down there everyday looking for a beaver...the girls were sure that we should at least see one once while we were there.

Beaver Dam #2

Beaver Dam #3

They also had 3 playground all right together, so a lot for the kids to do!

While we were at the park, the girls found this neat bug.  They loves his orange antennas!

Next trip is to Moravia to Fillmore Glen State Park :)

A visit with MY Grandparents :)

I'm ashamed to say that it's been a year and a half since I have made it out Grandma and Grandpa's place :(  I really wish we lived closer and I could bring the girls over more often.  They love when we get to go and really enjoy spending time with them.  The park is kind of a tradition there!

Marissa stayed back at the house this time when we went and drew.  She really wanted to make a special picture for the two of them.

Take a look at what she drew!  So beautiful!!!

We got to just hang out and visit...

...and you are never to old to climb on Grandpa's lap!

Madalyn loved the swing

Grandpa got out his photo album of all his pictures from his past.  He was such a cute little boy!!!
I REALLY enjoyed sitting down with him and watching him reminisce.  He had one picture of his great-great-grandparents.  Do you know how cool it is to hold a picture of your history like that in your hands?  So neat!  Thanks for a great visit!  Hopefully we are able to do it again before the "s" word comes back :)

Family Vacation at Darien Lakes State Park

This year is the first year in 5 years that we were able to have a no obligations vacation.  Granted, we didn't mind the weddings and babies that we got to help celebrate over the past couple years, but it sure was nice to have a week with my husband and no where we HAD to be.
This is what Madalyn thought about it...

We made hobo dinners...

We even taught Mom and Dad Benedict how to make them :)

The girls got pretty creative.
This is Madalyn's...

Doug's...

Mine...

Marissa's...

We did a lot of relaxing :)

We also did a lot of biking, swimming, walking...and before you knew it, everyone was wore out.  I'm not sure where I'm going to fit!

We enjoyed our annual trip to the amusement park with my parents, and Doug's parents even got to come!  We had a blast as usual.  It's always so neat to watch how God coordinates the weather for the day we go.  It was BEAUTIFUL!  I definitely don't get as much out of that day as I used to when I was a kid, I absolutely love that we are able to take the girls and watch them enjoy themselves.  Memories in the making!
